LibraryThing
But luckily me cousin Bob the Builder still has a few titles in print so I was able to kickstart me library with that.
It seemed simple enough adding the books and I guess I will have to start reading up on that side of the family so I will be able to make comments, rate etc.
Maybe it's just having done the MFP thingy but it did strike me that its a good thing decolonisation will be linked to pay this coming year as those cunning Builder cousins have crushed the glorious oral accounts of we me'Uncles just because they controlled the press, everytime I think about it I get so wound up I just have to drink anutha whiskey.
But the last laugh is on the Builders as they have been treated as essential 'Books for Children under 10' so all I have to do is keep blogging about the glorious accounts of we me'Uncles and me'Uncles history will be regained!
But in the meantime I will leave their books in me Library as we me'Uncles are a balanced lot.

Mucking around - it is okay Kelly made me
Me wee friend Kelly gave me permission to muck around so being a dutiful me'Uncle her wish was my command.
The obvious targets were management, but the bigwigs went and put miserable photos on the site which made me morphing results from Morphthing.com just plain weird even by South Auckland standards. You would think the good old mugshot would still be de rigueur but no they have to do silly wee poses on da couch.
The best result was a shot of Corin found from his myspace (just a pity about the Elton sunnies). Looking at the choice of candidates I thought it would be interesting to see what he looked like morphed with Gollum, to be honest I can only pick his forehead.
I will definitely give Jane mixed with Morticia and Theo as Fester a try once the learn.net gets upgraded next month as maybe the new picture software can help meet the morphing requirements but I definitely promise ya Kelly if ya get da photos on the website upgraded you will become my 274th best mate and I will morph all of the bigshots and dedicate me blog to you.
Anyways I got bored with morphing and decided to check out what my problem is since I seem to get asked that question daily. Using Rum and Monkey's Name Generator Generator it would seem that my Personality Problem is "I'm a delusional religious zealot with a lot of chutzpah!".
Whatever..have you seen the people I work with? let alone the punters?
Decided to try and print a magazine cover of Aunty Huia and her wee me'Uncles Library using http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/ but the photo resolution just sucks which is why we need some unsmiling mugshots instead of the posing heads on couch nonsense. Are you listening Kelly?

Playing with RSS ano
Topix was easy enough to use but personally I wouldn’t waste my time with it as I found the content as interesting as the portal...and the pop up ads more annoying than the neigbours rooster.
The headlines for NZ were the same for three days running but then again not a lot was happening Condoleeza was in town the ABs lost (surprise surprise), Warriors won (yet again) Sonny did a runner to France, a little rain to alleviate the power crisis and to top it off the sports readers have been told to behave…
Tried changing the location to see if anything was greener on the other side… Sydney, London and New York but it seems like it was a slow few days over there as well if only Obama’s cousin Osama was running.
Technorati was okay and I did find some of the stuff interesting. I know more about Cuil than I did before I had a looksie - have to say that the few searches I did were a little disappointing as the dates seemed old but will give it another go in a few weeks. Because I learnt something new I decided to join Technorati and when I have more time to muck around will definitely go back for a little more exploring.
Crikey were the pizzas covered in mould by the time boys finished designing Syndic8
Just looking at web page was enough to make me eyes hurt. Certainly not as user friendly as the first two and the interface shouted no loitering or fun here!
So being a good me'Uncle it was off to the boozer for me.

RSS in the third world
But as me Aunty Huia used to say life is simple but before you know it death has you pushing up the daisies.
And bloglines is a little bit like that it is easy enough to get carried away subscribing to feeds but whoa I would be buggered if I would even try and attempt to check the updates it is a bit like the dreaded inbox - nastiest little life sucking device that has ever been created... my uncle Evil me'Uncle has a bounty on his head for that invention and is too cowardly to come to our annual me'Uncles picnic..
It took three bottles of me'Uncles whiskey for me be plastered enough to even cope with looking at a bunch of librarians blogs on the Manukau list and strewth even then it wasn't nearly enough to get past the first two on the list.
Suffice to say the whiskey did get me through the no computers/phones/faxes - hell even the punters started looking and sounding better so swell in fact - I thought I was at Club me'Uncle and was seriously thinking I was overdressed until the nasty whine of "she who must not be named" cut through the swirling remains of my brain cells, but that is another blog.

Luza here
And this is the original true honest to Aunty Huia fearing blog of Luza me’Uncle...
Since we are being so straight up here, I have to admit to finding this a bit of a naff experience as we me’Uncles are more noted for our oratory rather than our written skills so this blogging business really ain’t up we me’Uncles alley if you know what I mean …
But for the sake of team spirit I will do me utmost and suck it up for the next wee while and participate in a completely open manner on this journey of learning 2.0 but a warning to ya Kelly if I don’t get me ipod there will be trouble at the end of the rainbow, as we me’Uncles have numerous cuzzies in very low and dark corners of this earth and the planets that surround (a bit like the local mafia..) so let me make it clear now Kelly there is no where to hide if I don’t win me ipod!!
Strewth mate I figured I would be cunning and let the rest of the
Well I got over the D’oh! moment pretty smartly as only cousin Homer Jay was in the office at the time otherwise the rest of the
Just quietly mate the lingo here is so colourful that before I leave work to go home me Aunty Huia IV, telephones me everyday to remind me to wash out my ears and mouth in me’Uncles kerosene (it has to be me’Uncles as Aunty don’t believe in that Home Brand stuff as she reckons its diluted H20, personally I am not sure whether kerosene and water are such a great combo but no one in their left mind argues with Aunty Huia... but I best stop before I start digressing...)
Anyways like I was saying I waited and waited and waited and waited for the great moment to register my blog as by this time I was pretty excited, since the way the
Mainly it was the waiting and waiting. A bit similar to a decision I once made to go on the Picton ferry - unfortunately I ended up spending all day in the terminal waiting...but then again maybe waiting is a holiday thing?
But tar me with the skin of a plastic boa constrictor what made it worse was this geezer having the nerve to email and say use the learn.net pcs if a site is blocked on the staff pc – hulloo… this is the holidays? dude have you tried getting on a learn.net pc in the holidays?? D’oh!
So by this stage I was getting mighty brassed off as the dog and cat were at home and I had nothing to kick…but never fear what with me being one of the smarter me’Uncles, I knew I needed to cool down and take a walk around the library and think happy thoughts as it is only day 3 of the holidays.
Here I was on my walkabout thinking happy thoughts… when inspiration struck in the most unlikely way – I was able to push a kid of the Opac for playing games on it instead of leaving it free for the catalogue and people joining up.
AAhh! Just as the joy of being mean was warming the arteries of me frigid heart, and no sooner had the punk pushed off the booming voice of my long departed cuzzie Darth V me’Uncle called out to me saying "if you use it to register your blog the ipod will be yours" well we me’Uncles are a loyal lot so really I had no choice but to get on blogger.com through the Opac and bugger the staff pcs/learn.net pcs nonsense.
So here you have it I have registered and done the silly post but honestly I have had more fun watching the paint dry on the fence posts penning in Pinetree me’Uncles prize bull from impregnating Aunt Daisy’s prize cow Maisie ...
But never mind we me’Uncles are made of stern stuff and are not ones for sulking (unlike the Springfield cousins) and instead this Luza will persevere for the booty that Kelly has promised at the end of the rainbow.
Btw, Kelly could you please make sure the frog leg club sandwiches aren’t part of the prizegiving? As the last frog leg club sandwich got stuck in me two front teeth and I ended up not being able to give me thank you speech, and me Aunty Huia was a tad annoyed and gave me a knock around the ears, and ever since then when I walk I hear a rattling sound like something is loose in me head which is a little discombobulating…but what the heck once I get me new ipod it should balance out the rattling and everything should be sweet as - just like smelling like me Aunty Huia’s chester drawers, after surviving the floods of ’94 but that’s another blog...
